Exclusive Collaboration: Megan Clarke & Little Deer

We are so pleased to present to you an exclusive collaboration with Cornwall based ceramist Megan Clarke.

Megan's hanging planters have been received well by our customers here at Little Deer so we decided to work with Megan on an item that is exclusive to us here at The Little Deer.

We wanted a product that could be used for a number of different functions. Holding pens on your desk, toothbrushes in the bathroom or plant a succulent in these Pots.

A limited amount of 4 pots were made, are exclusive to us at The Little Deer and once they're gone, they're gone! Each pot is signed by Megan on the bottom.

November Sounds by Danielle Tweedie

Our monthly playlist has been away for a couple of months but fear not - it's back!

Our good friend Daneille has put together 8 tracks which will please your ears endlessly!

Danielle joined The Little Deer team back when we first began, helping owner Jade at vintage fairs and events. Now Danielle helps out on our stall at Netil market in Hackney, London where we trade most Saturdays.

Danielle Tweedie is a Print Designer & Illustrator who graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2014 with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design. Her work explores pattern and form found within nature through experimental dot-work and line drawings, taking inspiration from a variety of mediums, whether it's map contours, water ripples or rock formations.

As well as being an incredible illustrator Danielle has an excellent ear for a good tune (!) and she's always making playlists for us here in The Little Deer office. This one includes Tame Impala, Tinashe and Movement - see what you think!

Blogger Feature: Cátia Tomé

Cátia launched her lifestyle blog 'According to Panda'  in 2012 alongside her career as a Designer & Art Director from Lisbon, Portugal.

Her blog is a kind of diary, where you can discover the single details of her daily life: photography, fashion, design, travelling, food, handmade, flowers, crochet, books and the real meaning of Home (with lots of love and cats!).

Cátia recently featured a pair of sunglasses from The Little Deer on her blog and we just love how she's styled them.

Pop Up Shop by Desire Lines Clothing Featuring The Little Deer

We are so pleased to be part of the pop up shop set up by Desire Lines Clothing here in the heart of the Brighton North Laine.

The shop changes hands each week with the intention of being a collective space to share ideas, skills and products. From the week of 12th October - 18th October the space is being taken over by Desire Lines Clothing whose aim is to provide an alternative to the throw-away fashion culture and give a modern approach to vintage. By fusing vintage clothing with their in house designs they aim to produce timeless collections.

Desire Lines have asked us to share the space and exhibit some pieces from our key designers.

Visit the shop on Gloustershire Road, Brighton to find out more about the designers at The Little Deer and let us show you why it's so important to shop with small brands where the designer is involved in the processes from start to finish and makes each individual item in limited numbers rather than the mass produced products on the high street. We believe it is so important to treasure what you buy for years and years. Little Deer pieces are for life, not just for Christmas!

Also featured at the pop up shop is Glasshouse who specialise in contemporary stained glass accessories including terrariums, lanterns, planters and jewellery. All handmade in Hove, UK and photography postcards by 'Born Missing'.

During the week Desire Lines will be organising a collaborative patchwork project, making a quilt from recycled fabrics to raise money for War on Want who 'fights against the root causes of poverty and human rights violation.' Please bring any scraps of material to contribute to the patchwork.

Building Sets with Antonia Mckenzie

Yesterday Little Deer owner Jade spent the afternoon with interior stylist Antonia Mckenzie. Together they turned The Little Deer office upside-down and created two beautiful interior scenes.

Antonia describes her inspiration for the first shot as 'Light airy spaces, wide window and creamy textures with an injection of tropical green leaves'

The idea for the second shot was born from Antonias love for cobalt blue. Sketches and planning began with Antonias blue blanket that she bought on her honeymoon. For her this blanket evokes nostalgia and travel and together with her handmade PINYA tangerine mug the yellow and blue theme for this shot was born. We love to bohemian feel and bold colours in this shot.

The first of these scenes feature the Monochrome Dash Mug which is hand painted by El-aich in Bristol. Available in our online shop here.

Little Deer x Brighton Lace - Frozen Bralette

We first worked with fellow Brighton creatives Brighton Lace back in early summer this year when we launched the 'Secret Garden' Bralette. We love working with Brighton Lace as everything is handmade here in Brighton by three lovely ladies using UK sourced lace.

The 'Secret Garden' Bralette was warmly received by our customers and has been a popular favourite ever since we launched it.

This winter we teamed up with Brighton Lace again, but this time we wanted to create an intimate piece that harmonised the cold english weather already creeping in by late September!

Together we came up with the 'Frozen' bralette. Ice white in colour and a soft modern pattern lace, this bralette is the perfect intimate to keep you comfortable under those cosy thick knitted jumpers this winter.

Brighton Lace owner Lou says:

'This is a Victoriana vintage triangle design bralette - a style we have never explored before. It's delicate detail looks beaitiful against the skin and works beautifully under a bit of cashmere.'

With adjustable straps and soft stretch lace, this bra feel extremely luxurious yet comfortable. Only a very limited number made in sizes A-B and C-D cups.
