Little Deer Blog

May Sounds

It's been an insane month for us here at The Little Deer. Moving studios (..still moving studios!) joining 'Not On The Highstreet' and our interior design collection continuing to grow.

The stress, sweat and tears haven't been without being thankful every single day for our customers support and encouragement. Here's some nice little tunes that have got us through the last month.

Here's to an incredible summer at the deer! We couldn't be more excited!

Featuring: Oh Wonder, Verite, Alina Baraz, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Astronomyy to name but a few!

New Brand: Unmentionables

Our ever growing lingerie collection has just seen some beautiful new additions from 'Unmentionables Lingerie' - a new brand to us here at The Little Deer.

Create in 2013, Unmentionables is a small handcrafted lingerie brand, each item lovingly made to order in a home studio here in Brighton. Owner Lucy created the brand from a love of laces and texture. She felt a need for pretty unpadded and comfortable underthings that she felt happy to show off under low slung t-shirts.

Unmentionables is designed for the laid back and stylish and those who love and celebrate their bodies. Positive vibes all round!

Copper Interiors - We Make These Ourselves!

The Little Deer began as a collective of independent designers. We sold pieces designed and handmade by other people but last year we finally launched our very own collection of interiors.

The Copper Clothing Rail was our first design. This launched in the summer of 2015. The inspiration behind this piece was to build something pretty to display clothing on while we traded festivals and fairs. Once completed, we loved this piece so much that we decided to offer it for sale on the website and we have been selling them ever since.

We soon expanded into Copper Candle Holders and Jewellery Stands. The wonderful value of using copper for these items is it's wonderful rose gold colour. We polish all the copper before we construct each item and then treat it with a matt polish to ensure it keeps its amazing shine and colour over time.

More recently we have launched a collection of pastel wooden clothes hangers. All painted by us here in our Brighton studio and then treated with a matt lacquer to prevent chipping. These hangers go excellently with our Copper Clothing Rail - a wonderful addition to any studio, bedroom or retail space.

You can shop the full range of our interiors on the web shop now here. We also take bespoke requests - please email

Photoshoot: Spring Edit

We recently teamed up with interior stylist Antonia Mckenzie on a spring inspired photo shoot.

When we looked at our new in stock ready for spring we knew we had to put everything together in a photo shoot as the colour palate was too beautiful to ignore!

Behind the scenes during our shoot

Together with Antonia we want to create some shots to show you our wide range of spring stock at The Little Deer. From blouses and cute pinafore dresses to sweet smelling hand poured candles and copper interiors, these shots are a beautiful example of the diversity we have to offer on our online shop.

Our Love: Netil Market

We first started trading at Netil Market in Hackney London about 3 years ago and have been there on and off ever since.

We currently trade at the East London market most Saturdays along with a number of other lovely shops and food stalls including: Earl Of East London, Arrow Jewellery, Arma Glass, Hopscotch London, Rebecca Gladstone, Qlinq Jewellery, Morty & Bobs, Pizzas Don't Cry and loads more - there's too many to name!

Our stall at the market is always light and we try to keep it not too crowded. Each week we feature different pieces from different designers to keep it fresh and new.

The market is one of the only ones in the area that you can spend all day in. Despite it's tiny size this market has seating areas to eat and drink, a rooftop 'garden' and plenty of permanent and temporary stalls to browse through. In the warmer months customers tend to have a little shop and then enjoy some delicious food in the seating area and then treat themselves to a cake or a beer in the sunshine.

Eight Magazine Feature The Little Deer

Back in December '15 Little Deer owner Jade was lucky enough to be contacted by Eight Magazine owner Kit To and invited to London for a photo shoot and interview for the Eight Magazine Instagram issue.

An incredibly clean and beautiful independent magazine, Eight is currently available for sale on the magazines website.

Kit photographed Jade in Central London and she answered some questions about her personal style, instagram as a social media platform and the future for the business.
'In five years I would love to have a small team of people working at The Little Deer in an office.... I would love the office to be a free creative space for ideas to flow and everyone to work together on projects for The Little Deer.'

This issue of Eight Magazine also includes photos and interviews with Photographer and stylist Beth Kirby (@local_milk), Designer at H&M Kelly Harrington (@kellouhar) and Denim Dudes Author Amy Leverton (@denimdudes).
